MLK Holiday

Creativity - a mental process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the existing ideas or concepts, fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight.

The creative juices were flying tonight! We began to look at the peices of the FIRST Tech Challenge Kit of Parts (commonly known as Tetrix) and study how fast the motors for the mini bot will climb a pole.  This will be an interesting twist to this year's challenge and a potential point grabber if we can design the bot with a bit of prowess and clever execution.

Meanwhile, the build team assembled the first parts of the chassis by using a slick fixture designed for quick assembly of the aluminum sheet stock and wheel carriage attachments. This is a great timesaver in the early part of the build.

A second team of students also began planning a strategy for the feed slot and throwing game peices to see how they would travel in the air and if an overhand feed could be accomplished to enable less robot travel to and from the feed slot.  We discovered it was alot harder to throw the inflatable tubes than it first appeared!  We think we have a good plan for launching the game peices, but as the saying goes, "practice makes perfect'!.
